Nearby Attractions
With the town centre just a five minute walk away, there's plenty to keep you entertained during your stay in Rye. If you want to go further afield, there are direct train links to Hastings, Ashford, Canterbury, Eastbourne and Brighton. Camber Sands is just 15 minutes by car or bus.

Rye
There's plenty to see and do in Rye. Whether you fancy taking a stroll around the town to take in the famous sights (Mermaid Street is a particular favourite), want to grab a bite to eat or something to drink or simply want to shop, there's something to keep everyone entertained.
There are plenty of restaurants and pubs around the town, all serving fresh, locally sourced food. The Scallop Festival, Wild Boar Week and the annual Jazz Festival are some of the highlights to look out for throughout the year.
Every Thursday is market day in the town - a unique experience for any visitor!

Camber Sands
East Sussex's famous sandy beach is just a 15 minute drive from Rye, making it the perfect day out with family or friends. If you're looking for activities then there's a kite surfing school that runs regular sessions on the beach, a windsurfing lake, a golf course and a cycle path that runs the length of Camber for those with bikes.
Just further down the road from Camber you can visit the Kent towns of Dymchurch, Hythe, New Romney and Lydd.

1066 walks
If you fancy seeing the local sights on foot then there's plenty to explore. The 1066 trail runs through Rye, making it easy to walk the length of the coast.
Camber Castle is one of the most iconic sites, situated just outside of Rye on the way to Winchelsea. If you fancy a really long walk then the trail brings you all the way to Hastings!
Hastings
Just 20 minutes by car or train, Hastings makes for a great day out. Whether you explore the quirky shops and pubs in the Old Town, fancy a trip to the cinema or want to wander the beach with some fish and chips or an ice cream there's plenty to see and do here.
Kids will love the exploring the Smugglers caves, or wandering around the Blue Reef Aquarium, and there's always something to see or do on the newly renovated pier.


Ashford
Either 30 minutes by car or train, Ashford is great if you want to spend a day shopping. The McArthur Glen Designer Outlet is always a popular location, and makes a good alternative to the mainstream shops in the high street. There's also a bowling alley and cinema here too.
If you fancy going even further afield, connecting trains will take you to Canterbury or Maidstone - or you could even hop on the Eurostar and spend a day in paris!
